Our Story
Professional Eyecare was founded in 1972 by Dr. John Andersen in Nebraska with a simple mission: to provide the highest quality eye care in a warm, welcoming environment. The practice grew to as many as 11 locations before Dr. Andersen brought the brand to the Kansas City area, where it has served thousands of families ever since.
Today, under the leadership of Dr. Austin Andersen, Professional Eyecare continues to evolve — embracing the latest diagnostic technologies, expanding our team of skilled optometrists, and deepening our commitment to personalized patient care. With two Overland Park locations and six experienced doctors, we carry forward a tradition of excellence that began over 50 years ago.

Dr. John Andersen has completed over 10 international missions through the Gift of Sight program, bringing vision care to communities in need across the globe. Dr. Austin Andersen joined him on a mission in Panama — carrying on the family tradition of service through sight.
